Granted more crop up out on the trails, but I guess that's the fun part of the whole challenge.
I'm not sure how my dad thought I'd figure out how to play, haha! I would just strum some random stuff and pretend I could figure something out.
I'm glad you have another chance to learn! That was a fantastic gift :)Josie Smithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16188853658488855603noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5799476615236275971.post-11631136937143942632014-06-10T16:53:07.192-05:002014-06-10T16:53:07.192-05:00Congratulations on overcoming a fear! I think that...Congratulations on overcoming a fear! I think that is what the journey is about - being able to accomplish something we never thought possible - and it's all the better when there's someone with us to help encourage us along.

As a side note - I was given a used guitar as a kid too, after stating that I really wanted to learn. Like you, I was expected simply to pick it up without the assistance of an instructor, and even though I'd taken piano for several years, the guitar was a completely different instrument. I ended up not even touching it and my dad sold it off because I "never used it." Several years ago, my husband bought me a guitar for Christmas. I still cry when I think about it because he knew the story and I was always so upset that it had been sold off and I'd never learned to play. I still haven't learned to play it (though I have practiced some basics over the years), but I know that no one can ever take it from me because it's not being used. It is probably my most treasured gift, even if it does mostly just sit in its case. In some sense, I fear it - but I also know that one day, I will learn to play it and it will be the greatest feeling.G.E.https://www.blogger.com/profile/02748009691282638366noreply@blogger.com
